B&B Italia: Salone del Mobile 2017
Milan design week affirms its key position in the world of interior design. It is the birthplace of new proposals driven by the creativity of various brands and designers. B&B Italia held their presentation at the Store in Via Durini 14, introducing a wave of new products for every space of the home, including the kitchen. B&B Italia partners again with Mario Bellini, Antonio Citterio, Monica Armani and Naoto Fukusawa. 2017 marks the beginning of a collaboration with Piero Lissoni, who has designed B&B Italia’s newest sofa system addition.
SAKé
B&B Italia
Piero Lissoni’s SAKé stems from a desire to achieve lightness, to give the illusion of floatation. The modern linearity of its design acts as a balance between formal and contemporary. SAKé uniquely provides a sofa bed configuration, the only one present in B&B Italia’s collection. The armrest on either side serves as a headboard and the effortless maneuvering of the seat and back, transforms the sofa into a bed.
Harbor
B&B Italia
Designed by Naoto Fukusawa, in order to provide the feeling of envelopment around one’s body. Harbor furthers B&B Italia’s endeavors to revisit seating collections with armrests. Complete with a swivel base and two back heights to offer options for relaxation or conversation. The collection also offers an ottoman in which a tray can be placed on top to serve as a small table.
Jens
B&B Italia
A beautiful bridge between the nineteenth-century “shaker” chairs and Ming dynasty influences. Antonio Citterio revisits the craftsmanship of curved wood for the frame of Jens and has added leather to the backs and seats for further enhancement. Various configurations are offered along with B&B Italia’s wide range of wood finish options.
Alex
B&B Italia
Alex mixes modularity and curvature, simplicity and strength. The construction of the “sawhorse” frame is comprised of hard polyurethane and metallic drawn inserts offered in B&B Italia’s lacquer collection. Alex offers various sizes and shapes, the round offering the option of a swivel tray, realized in the same lacquer options, wood or marble.
Bolt Table
B&B Italia
Mario Bellini takes a new turn from wooden supports to an unusual metal frame, Bolt is “A table with a view” as Bellini says. The transparent glass acts as a window to peer over the three interlacing crosspieces in various sections that form the base.
Richard
B&B Italia
A new addition to the Richard series by Antonio Citterio. The Richard bed’s design is met with a high headboard, surrounding the outside of the bed. The detail of the welt is signature to the sofa as it is to the bed. Because of its height, the bed allows the use of any type of mattress support, metal or wood, slats or springs.
Madison
B&B Italia
Inspired by femininity and elegance, Monica Armani introduces Madison, combining rounded elements with oversized dimensions.
Formiche
B&B Italia
Formiche, meaning ants in English, is another collaboration between Piero Lissoni and B&B Italia. A perfect complement to SAKé as it continues a theme of slim profiles and framework. Formiche is offered in a various heights, shapes, and finishes, to offer full customizability.
Eucalipto
B&B Italia
The storage unit collection designed by Antonio Citterio has continued to grow, now offered in a newly designed support and different height options composed of either black chrome or pewter aluminum. Different types of units are now offered through Eucalipto: a cupboard with an open centralized space for entertainment equipment, a vertical storage unit, and console.
Charles 20°
B&B Italia
B&B Italia celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Charles collection, designed by Antonio Citterio in 1997. Now available in a limited version which offers new coverings in grey/blue and orange/red which are the shades Charles Eames identified with the 60’s. The modernity of Charles remains as it continues to overtake the scene. Innovative research towards the design of Charles is the foundation of its consistent success as a long seller and bestseller for B&B Italia.
Tobi-Ishi Outdoor
B&B Italia Outdoor
Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby reconfirm their inspiration of Zen. Enthusiasts of Japanese art and culture, the classic round dining table, a product of their inspiration, is introduced to the B&B Italia Outdoor collection. The structure of the Tobi-Ishi Outdoor table forms different shapes dependent on your vantage point. Made in cement, Tobi-Ishi Outdoor comes in two colors, grey, and anthracite.
Astrum
Maxalto
Revisiting the “sawhorse” frame, Astrum fuses different materials, finishes, shapes and sizes. Offered in rectangular and round models that affect the base-frame composition of two or three elements, connected by the crosspiece to provide support for either top. The triangular aspects of the supports provide the design with a lighter look while remaining tailored.
Caratos
Maxalto
Antonio Citterio’s new chair addition to Maxalto, elegantly presents new geometric frame and finish options: graphite painted and amber painted die-cast aluminum. Light not only in its design but also in its weight.
