B&B Italia – IMM Cologne 2017
Ten years after launching the B&B Italia Outdoor collection, the company is starting 2017 by presenting the first new products of the year in Cologne: three exclusive projects by Antonio Citterio for the outdoor collection, which is confirmed as an important area for design. The challenge is once again to take outdoors all the qualities, which have been so far distinctive features of B&B Italia indoor proposals: technological innovation, ergonomic and formal research, quality and comfort.
After the success of the indoor collection, the Ray seating system by Antonio Citterio attires itself for outdoor use with two new seating collections, "Natural" and "Fabric," that have in common a light extruded aluminum frame and are distinguished by various interlacings and materials.
Ray Outdoor Fabric presents a "ribbon" weave made of polypropylene fiber that is resistant to both UV radiations and atmospheric agents. The color range, which particularly blends into an outdoor setting, ranges from turquoise to blue, from acid green to tortora and bright bordeaux. Seats include sofas available in two depths and modular elements, from terminal elements to the chaise longue and armchairs. The sunbed is only present in the "Fabric" collection.
Ray Outdoor Natural features a "rope" weave inspired by natural Manila hemp and designed to perfectly merge with nature. It uses Textilene that is perfectly suited for outdoor settings.
The Erica armchair, sofa, chair, even in the stackable version, offer a technological blend of extruded and die-cast aluminum elements. Their lightness and design suggest their use both in public and residential settings, complying with ergonomic and environmental adaptability criteria. The seat and back cushions ensure high comfort relaxation. The painted frames present three finishes, that match the high resistance synthetic fabric interlacing, that have been studied for outdoor use: white painted aluminum frame with tortora color polypropylene fiber interlacing, tortora painted aluminum frame with tortora color polypropylene fiber interlacing, anthracite painted aluminum frame with anthracite color polypropylene fiber interlacing.
Ginestra, a collection of large rectangular and round dining tables featuring natural teakwood, structural details, and designed tops, studied to match central inserts made of Calacatta white porcelain stoneware. The same collection features a chair, always in natural teakwood, with sinuous harmonious lines that are clearly inspired by Nordic design. It is characterized by interlacing in polypropylene fiber that is ideal for outdoor use. Colors are chosen to match natural teakwood with a beige interlacing. Comfort is guaranteed by seat and back cushions.
